About me

Radhika's textile work has a profound understanding of the intricate layers that shape our lives. With each stitch, she weaves conversations onto fabric, mirroring the complexities of human relationships.

Radhika Surana is a Visual Artist and Hindustani Classical Vocalist. She is graduate in fine arts from Rajasthan University, where, alongside her degree, she trained under the eminent artist Dwarka Prasad Sharma. She also took courses in water colour and portraiture at Canadore College, Ontario, and worked as an apprentice with the Canadian artist Charlie Rapsky. Radhika has had various solo and group shows at venues such as Triveni Sangam, Lalit Kala Akademi, and India Habitat Centre. Radhika continues her vocal training alongside her pursuit of art and has held music performances across India, which she believes feeds into her visual practice.

Radhika's textile work has a profound understanding of the intricate layers that shape our lives. With each stitch, she weaves conversations onto fabric, mirroring the complexities of human relationships. Through scars and burns, or by layering fabrics to signify repair, she creates visual narratives that resonate deeply. Her meditative approach to embroidery draws parallels between the meandering thread and the ebb and flow of connections in our lives. Patience and perseverance guide her hand as she untangles entwined threads, symbolising the effort required in nurturing and moving forward in relationships.
